Ian Logan: Performer’s CV Born 1961, Wellington Educated in Wellington and graduated B.A.(Hons) from Victoria University, Wellington in 1982 with a double major in English and History. Also studied Italian and Art History. Studies of Shakespeare and modern drama were part of the English curriculum. Concurrently with the above, pursued private study of music and art, gaining an ATCL in piano performance in 1983. Also exhibiting at the Academy of Fine Arts, Wellington Trade Centre Gallery, and Wellington City Gallery exhibition featuring north island artists. In 1987 completed one year teaching diploma (secondary) and started attending ACTAW drama workshops run by American variety artist, Danny Boone. Topics covered included improvisation, acting for the screen, voice production and script interpretation. Assisted backstage with “Private Wars” an ACTAW production with Stephen Papps and Lee Hartley. Later took the part of Sam Nash in ACTAW production of Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite. In 1998 – 1992 appeared in Postbank Commercial (as grumpy teller) and in various TV series as an extra including ‘The Ray Bradbury Theatre’ and ‘Shark in the Park’. Later in Roger Hall’s ‘Market Forces’. Was also active as a musician in this time and until now, especially as musical director for torch singer ‘The Incomparable’ Magdalena Darby. Performing extensively in Wellington and in 1991 together with John Ansell won the ‘Stan Freberg Award’ for the composition and performance of commercial for Petit Lyon restaurant. From 1993 – 1997 was owner/manager of the Island Bay Art Gallery exhibiting own paintings together with a range of outstanding north island artists. In 1998 left for the UK to pursue interests in art and music. Whilst there exhibited paintings extensively, including at the Royal Watercolour Society, New Zealand Embassy and Dulwich Picture Gallery. With Magdalena Darby performed at London’s ‘Vortex Jazz Club and ‘Larry’s Room’ at Pizza on the Park, Knightsbridge. In Paris exhibited at ‘Blanc et Blanc’ and performed at ‘Le Croquenote’ and ‘En Train de Vie’. From 2013 in New Zealand running the Tapu Te Ranga Gallery in Island bay Wellington as well as regular concerts with Magdalena Darby. Most recent being in May 2012 at Old St Pauls in Wellington.
